Hero the Rocking Dragon
Brian has been carving Dragons for many years and there is a rocking dragon in the reception area of the childrens hospital at the John Radcliffe Hospital. Brian came up with the idea that we could carve the dragon to raise funds for Help for Hero’s, we named him Hero and carved 5,000 scales. As we worked on him we took him to events all over the county and visited shopping centres etc. We sold the individual scales and people put their initials on the. When the project was finished we had raised £10,000 for “Help for Hero’s” – Hero was presented to the RAF at Brize Norton and resides in the childrens Nursery there.

1000 Years of Oxfordshire
We were approached by Oxfordshire County Council to produce something special to signify 1000 years since Oxfordshire was formed and after discussions it was agreed that we would prepare fifteen individual panels incorporated into 3 large panels. The subjects where chosen by Oxfordshire County Council, the design are by the individual carvers. It was agreed that it would have a permanent pubic location and initially should have been the main library in Oxford city.
The project was taken all around the county spending time in each location.
But at the end of the tour it had no permanent location as the Oxford Library closed because the site was being redeveloped. So almost 10 years on it is still homeless. The project took 12 carvers over a year to create and it is currently stored in a garage and getting the worse for wear whilst waiting for a home.
